Block Design Build LLC is a women-led architectural design and construction management service for small residential projects (under 4,000 sft) such as accessory dwelling units (ADUs), garage/basement conversions, or additional living spaces.

We support homeowners by managing the design and construction process including scheduling construction phases, supervising and coordinating subcontractors, communicating design intent, and processing the required permits.


FAQs

  • An Accessory Dwelling Unit or ADU is a self-contained dwelling either built inside of or adjacent to a primary home.

  • $1500 - $3000 to convert your basement or garage to a “living space”, not an ADU

    $3000 - $7000 to build an ADU as a garage conversion or detached with a long-term rental commitment of up to 10 years.

    $7000 - $25,000 to build an ADU without restrictions of short-term or long-term rentals. System Development Charges (SDC’s) are not waived for short-term rentals and are typically 20k.

  • No. You will need to have a building permit to build an ADU, casita, granny flat, or attached unit.

  • We are a female GC company partnering with builders to construct your project. We will be managing the permitting process, inspections, coordinating design and build, as well as communicating with you on the progress of the project.
